my photo blog, by Paddy

Hi, my name is Graham but my friends call me Paddy (Patrick being my middle name). I have been 'into' photography for many years but have just started out in digital after a long, long break. I now live in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire. I moved here over 5 years ago from my native(ish) South..

Lincoln Cathedral

A slightly unorthodox picture of the magnificent Cathedral in Lincoln peeping over the surrounding buildings and the Cathedrals original gateway. To some, the inclusion of the market stalls and (crime of all crimes) a white van ruins the picture. I suppose aesthetically, it does but what struck..

Millennium Arch Lincoln

This is a detail of a beautiful, graceful sculpture that spans the canal in Lincoln City centre. very difficult to get a full shot of it as it is surrounded by buildings but I quite like this view as the figures reach out to each other. Not a great fan of modern sculpture but this one is stunning..

Ghosts have feet!

I took this shot on a recent visit to the City of Lincoln. I tried an experiment of a hand held, slow shutter speed to blur people walking through this ancient archway. Not much of a picture I know, but I was surprised when I saw it on screen how many feet remained static enough to record while..

Gateway to nowhere

I love gates that no longer serve any purpose. Either they lead to nowhere or have not been used for years. This one leads to a so little used path, it's reason for being has long since gone

What are you up to now????

I have just picked up a small mains flash head to replace my continuous light bulbs as they are not powerful enough for portrait work. I just set one up with my silver brolly to get an idea of what the exposure would be when Kim jumped on the bed wondering what I was doing with this big silver..

Face in the crowd

This was also taken at the Peterborough Festival 2008. For this very lucky shot, I turned my back to the stage and grabbed a few shots without lifting the camera to my eye of the audience, this was the only one worth using but I think it is a gem. Not a perfect portrait I know but I was lucky to..

Dancer

Shot at part of the Peterborough Festival 2008, this was one of a group of dancers on stage. I like this one for the expression and energy she is portraying........ Oh, OK then and because she is cute to....
