Wow, the depth of this is intriguing. It's almost 3-D ish. How the heck did you get this angle? |

Now this one is everything that the previous shot wasn't. This is an incredible picture Will and I agree with all that has been said before. This is the most unusual composition I have seen on a tree which appears to be reaching out to the viewer. Everything about it is drawing me into the image. Would be interested to know why this didn't get an EP (Editors Pick), it would have done if I was the editor. Well don Will, great picture. |

Thanks Paddy, I took your earlier advice and am still experimenting. I like the idea of dragging part of the subject across the image to exagerate colours and create big areas of colour and movement in one go. Also like to move photography towards painting. Its all fun, Will

Great stuff Will. Photography is an art form however you look at it so don't be afraid to try things, what can it hurt? |

Jullianne I think I cheated on the depth by almost being under the branch and shooting a 14mm wide angle, so really shot across the branches instead of in to the tree. Thanks for your interest, very kind Will |

I don't think that's cheating. I think that's doing things the smart way.
Thanks for cluing me in. |

Not cheating at all Will, it is a technique well deserved when using a wide angle lens. Ask Vic, he does it all the time. Perspective is a great tool for us photographers to use. The only way it would be cheating, and even this is debatable, is if you had took the shot in summer and then recoloured the leaves to autumn colours. Having said that, if you could do it well, so what? |
