Ths female cross/garden spider full of eggs was making her way to cover under a leaf. These Orb weavers have two dimensional webs horizontal and vertical.

Wow that is one amazing photo of a spider. You can even see the web it is walking on.
Is there a specific secret for getting the web involving lighting or...anything? I seem to have trouble getting the web with the spider.

Hi Julianne thanks for the lovely comments, as for getting the web more in focus its really down to to getting the right depth of field this achieved by using the right aperature setting on your camera i normally use f5.6 which gives a good overall DOF for a subject like this, if the light is bad up your ISO to say 400, this will help pick up the tiny strands of the web. I never use a tripod, but im sure this will help (or support of some kind, beanbag etc)to keep from any camera shake.
