Another beautiful young woman. In a nice pose. But the shot lacks contrast and sharpness and there's too many blow-outs. I've seen some of your work and know you can do better. In open sunlight it good to have a large diffuser-panel to soften the light, and thereby avoiding blow-outs and adding contrast. If the diffuser takes too much light use a wider aperture, slightly slower shutter-speed or use reflector-panels to give you the light you need for the exposure.

Have to agree with ParaMan re the blowouts. This is something that is very difficult to control especially in a group situation where you don't have total control or choice of settings. Very few of us have the diffusers that ParaMan speaks of, you would be amazed at the array of diffusers, reflectors and black matts that are just out of shot on a pro shoot like this. However, a cheeper alternative once you get to grips with making it look natural and balanced is to expose for the highlights and use fill in flash to balance it out. Very often the on camera flash will be sufficient to do this especially if you have a small diffuser on it. Takes a bit of trial and error to get to grips with the technique but well worth learning.

It is a great shot though

I have no idea what either one of those two are talking about...what the heck is a diffuser?

I would have asked someone to stand to the side to block the sun personally and tried to take the shot from a lower angle maybe to see if I could get less "blowouts" I guess they are called.

I guess my stand on it is, I am more dedicated to showing the average household camera user and hobby photographer how they can get really decent pictures with a typical camera and Photo FX than selling a kidney to buy equipment I don't want to hire a pack donkey to carry down the beach. That's just me though. I'm not a professional, i just like pretty pictures.

I really like the nature of your unposed shots, Oz. That seems to be your forte. But don't give up on posed shots altogether. I'm no good at them, but I keep trying. I'm more likely to get a good shot of a human at this point than a flipping bird. Smile
