I've never seen a hummingbird that has landed before. Not once. For some reason I thought they never landed, though I suppose that would make it difficult to sit on a nest. What a lovely little bird this is.

Thanks Julianne, its certainly a treat for me to be able to get so close to these amazing little birds, not having them around here naturally, its a joy to sit and study its behaviour at the centre.

WOW..I've never seen a hummingbird in a still picture before, and certainly not one that isn't flapping its wings a rate one can't register, with the naked eye. Great contrast, sharpnes, DoF and composition. Very very nice!

I have never seen a Humming bird in real life, so seeing a photo of one is always fascinating to me. Sorry for maybe asking stupid, but I really don't know this - do they live in the wild in the UK? I agree that the composition is excellent (pretty much as always), and the sharp focus on this little fellow is perfect. Great shot Bev!

Fascinating little birds.. and in asnwer to your question Darren its with regret that we dont have these birds in our country, but they are found in america, asia etc, i would love to have them over here and there is a variety of them as well, some with gorgeous colours.
