Anjuli
Anjuli is my daughters best mate and a real good friend to us to. This is the first 'formal' portrait I have taken of her and this was mostly messing around but I think it captures her very well

Your right Paddy, this is a beautiful portrait of a very pretty lady, you have used the light well, which brings out all her natural skin tones, brilliant job...
Julianne
rather jealous of her complexion to tell the truth. I like very much that it isn't "over done". You should be able to tell something genuinely about a person from a portrait and I think you've definitely accomplished that here.
ParaMan
Nice one Paddy. On my screen however her skin looks quite quite red, the pose makes her look uncomfortable. Tra having her with her left side towards the camera, have her turn her face towards the camera and tilt it forward slightly. With regards to the reddish skin, my quess is you've either overdone it slightly using USM (UnSharp Mask) or you used dodge/burn tool with a too hard brush. Nice try. Keep 'em coming!
Julianne
I don't know that I've ever disagreed with a comment more. I believe the reddish hue is due to the light's reflection off the background. She doesn't seem uncomfortable to me in that pose, but somewhat on the shy side.
Paddy
Thanks for both your comments, and you are both right. Yep she is a bit shy when it comes to having her picture taken and she was a bit 'blushy' lol (if there is such a word) Like most people, she feels that she doesn't look good enough. I wonder what this 'perfect image' is that people strive for? Why can people not see their own beauty? Thank God we are all a bit different, thank God we are not perfect, what a boring world it would be.
Yep, I did over cook it ParaMan. One of the hardest things about post processing is knowing when to stop and one of the hardest things when trying to photograph people who do not feel comfortable with themselves in pictures is trying to pose them and keep it natural looking.
I have said before, I appreciate ParaMan's open and honest comments. He knows I will not always agree with what he says, but believe me, I take every word on board and try to learn from it. It is the only way to learn.
By the way ParaMan, get your monitor calibrated. A bit warm it might be but red!!!!! Not on my lovely iMac screen... did I mention my 20" iMac with it's superbly balanced screen
Julianne
That's very true, no one is perfect. I believe the purpose of life is to be the best version of you that you can be, and to not make excuses to justify your imperfections rather than work on them.
This perfect image that people strive for is not achievable, because even if you looked like the person you wished you did, you would then wish to look like someone else. It's best to work on what's inside of you that makes you insecure I think. Why waste time trying to keep up with everyone else when we have the nearly impossible task of keeping up with our own expectations?
Perfectly balanced? You mean like an overpriced frisbee?
Paddy
"Perfectly balanced? You mean like an overpriced frisbee? "
Madam, how dare you Overpriced it may be to some but as a frisbee it would excel beyond any PC lol
