The Ice rink at its quietest. This is when the ice rink outside the city hall was being resurfaced. Behind the scenes are hundreds of impatient skaters just getting ready to go out on the ice. I tried to take some photos of them, but the lousy light and movement made it impossible

Beautiful colour and lighting, and the angle shows everything perfectly including the buildings.

Smashing Shot Steve. Try again, set your camera, to shutterspeed priority, set your shutter speed at 1/125 - 1/250 sec, depending on the sync-timing of you camera, use the shortest possible shutterspeed, still avoiding blackout, due shutterspeeds faster than the sync-speed. I.e my camera has flash sync of 1/300 sec, but to leave room for camera error in exposure I rarely go under 1/250. This should be enough to freeze the most motion, but this is also dependant on the largest aperture of your lense. Alternatively, step up your ISO one or two stops. The colours and sharpness is great, but the picture slants to the left, and the black corners at the bottom should be cloned or cropped out.
