This flew low over the house as I was packing a BBQ away at the end of the summer. I didn't have time to set the camera so it was an auto grab shot. Nice to see these old planes still flying though. You can just make out the emblem of 267 ‘Pegasus’ Squadron, which flew in the Transport, Trooping and Re-supply roles in the Middle East and the Mediterranean Theatres during 1943/44. The squadron employed various colour schemes on its Dakotas but always displayed its ‘Pegasus’ emblem prominently on the aircraft’s nose. I think this is currently based at Duxford not too far, as the plane flies, from where I live

The DC3 was used a lot for paratroopers, and if one flew over our house you wouldn't see me hanging over the BBQ either Beautiful capture Paddy

You are right Julianne, it was a very lucky shot. I had just put the camera down on the table after grabbing a shot of my granddaughter messing around when this just appeared, I managed three shots (god bless the speed of the DSLR) and it was gone behind trees. Not too much to worry about regarding the door, they never flew high enough with passengers to need pressurised cabins must have been very cold though
