| Taking off at Reno air races. This is one of the ugliest airplanes ever designed. But beauty was not on the list of things to achieve when they were building this. The titanium tub that surrounds the pilot, powerful guns and all the other features makes this the best plane for close air support. |

No Julie, it is not fast either. It was designed to fly low over the battle field and support the troops. It has really thick armor and a lot of redundant systems that keeps it in the air and controllable even after suffering from direct hits.

You captured this one very well, despite its landing speed, and the background motion really adds to that. I personally think it is a rather cool jet |

I LOVE the A10, it is designed to kill tanks and heavy armour which it does so very well. Like the Apache helicopter, the design is totally functional. As Vahid as said, it is designed to be in close, being shot at and do it's job. The Vulcan cannon, a rotating multi barrel Gatling gun, fires thousands of depleted uranium bullets per second which can literally rip a tank to pieces, it is in reality a flying gun. The engines are mounted high to protect them not only from ground fire but also debris on rough landing strips being thrown up by the wheels. A design masterpiece....... errrr does that make me a geek to  |
