This village, located in southern China was one of the most serene places I have ever visited. Over centuries, rice terraces are cut into the hills to compensate for lack of flat land. Paths like this crisscross the hillside and connects villages. Provided by man or beast, muscle power is the best means of transport here.

Have to agree with Julianne, you do add a lot to your great pictures with the descriptions, always welcome to see. This is a lovely picture of a land so different to what I know. You have selected a perfect position to take the shot giving a great view with the classic compositional tool of a winding path pulling it well above the ordinary scene.
