It looks cold. We got our first great deal of snow here in Oregon as well, about a week ago - and tons of it Good thing the bird doesn't seem to mind the snow, and I am sure the bird feeder is great hit now that the snow is here. Yet another terrific shot bdaqueen

Hello, thank you for the ideas, I am going to give this some thought... Are there any rules I should be aware of when taking the people picture? There is an older gentleman that hangs at a shopping center, I would like to get a shot of him. Any suggestions on how to get away with taking pictures without asking for an OK?
Ravens sound like cool birds, I have never seen one...

Unless you feel that asking could cause a problem, then I suggest you ask. Sometimes it can get a negative response but other times it can open up your subject. Sneaking a picture can, if you get away with it, give a great natural candid shot but some regard it as being a bit rude.
A tip on getting candids in a crowd is to make sure when you have taken the picture and lower the camera, look to the side of the subject, not directly at them.
Often you will find that if the person thought you were photographing them, but see you look at something else after taking the shot, they think that is the direction in which you were taking the picture. I have done this a few times and have even seen the person I was taking following my gaze to try to spot what I had been looking at.
