| The Red Deer Stag |
|

| This red deer Stag was in full rut when we came upon him and his herd of hinds, here he is bellowing as a younger stag is not far off. |

This picture is one of the big bonuses from your holiday  Beautiful animal! I hope you used the lens for this one, you don't want to get too close when a stag is in rut I would be pretty proud of myself, if I had taken these pictures - so you should be too. Perfect postcard shot  |

Yes this was the ultimate icing on the cake!  we were well hidden with our longest lenses! but i think we could of been standing in the middle as he had other things on his mind  and we were less important to him, but your right, these guys mean business and become very tempramental so they have my full respect at this time of year. |

Much appreciated Julianne, your so right in what you say, and yes Mother Nature is a wise woman!
The stag is a very noble creature, proud and never forgiving when it comes down to his herd of hinds being threatened. I could watch these animals all day. |

Sublime! This is by far the best shot I have seen of a stag. I'm going out shortly, to a place where there is good chances of seeing stags in rut, bellowing, but I doubt that I'll get anything this good. This definately deserves Editors Pick Well done Bev |

This really is a very impressive animal and like you I could watch them for hours. We never did see deer when we were in Scotland, but we were in the south of the country. |

Thanks Steve and Paraman for your comments, we had to really go and look for these, and travel a couple of hours to a place where they are known to be, we struck lucky that day  |
