I have no idea what this plane is but these and ones very much like it come over throughout the day from the army base in Mildenhall and Lakenheath in Norfolk.

It's the C-17 Globemaster III, from the US Airforce. It's the same as ParaMan posted recently, however, this one is in a more lighter gray color. It's on final and approaching the runway, gear down and flaps set for landing. All the details are there Bev, and it's a beauty shot of a very big and beautiful aircraft

You shouldn't be scared getting on board an aircraft Bev. Now-a-days technology is so advance, that flying is a very safe way to travel. Commercial jets basically do all the flying themselves using the autopilot. Take for instance this shot, the ground is communicating with the aircraft, navigating it safely down to the runway, also called ILS (Instrumental Landing System). In the cockpit the pilot has what is called TCAS (Traffic Collision Avoidance System), so the aircraft doesn't bump into other planes on its way and the list of safety procedures goes on and on

Darren thanks for your help and vote of confidence, but i think its a mixture of pure fear and also being enclosed in an area and not being able to say Ok iv had enough i need to get off! i hate closed in places, the thought of it is now getting me hot and bothered, its a shame as i have an Uncle in Florida (Oh that wildlife opportunity) i have been invited up in a microlite to do aerial photography and i just cant bring myself to do it
