If any of you have seen the ITV series Heartbeat, this is where it is filmed, a small village called Goathland deep in the Yorkshire countryside.

Not sure if many on here will have seen Heartbeat Steve (they will be the lucky ones in my opinion lol) Anyway, Goathland is high on the North York Moors and, if memory serves me well, is the end of the North York Moors Railway (might be wrong on that), a superb preserved railway running through some of the best scenery in the world. Anyone who loves the steam age should visit it. I remember once walking through Goathland towards a path some way behind the photographer in this image. It was one of those times when I was not concentrating on the map reading and I was the navigator for a group. I had informed the group that all we had to do was drop down from the edge of Goathland and follow a river for a few miles, then strike off to the east and we would be back at the camp site in about 3 hours. Six hours later, we arrived in darkness back at camp, foot sore and hungry and for some reason, no one was talking to me. Thanks for this memory Steve
