The Old Customs House
On the river Nene in Peterborough, this building used to be the Customs House controlling the goods transported in and out of the city by river. The presence of this building shows how important river traffic was to the City. It is now the headquarters of the Sea Cadets.

These old buildings are full of history and how trading in those days were handled. A lot more primitive than today, but then again there was a lot more social life connected to markets, trading posts etc. than what we see to today. Today it is sadly all about speed and how fast we can get out of there. Great picture Paddy and thanks for sharing it
