Framing with Visualizer Photo FX.
There are various ways to frame a photo with Visualizer Photo FX. You can go the standard way by right clicking on the picture and adding a standard frame using a color from the color picker, or you can go the more advance way and design your own frame.
I will teach you the basic techniques of copying areas, creating a new document and pasting an image into a new document.
Standard frames are all well and dandy, but...
Sometimes it is great to display your images in new ways. The standard way usually also means the easiest way. But how do we make our images come across a bit differently? You will be amazed how little it requires to frame your pictures in new an innovative ways.
Open an image with Visualizer Photo FX and resize the image to any size you want to use (not smaller than 640x480). Copy an area of your resized image, using a selection which is 640x480 (640 wide and 480 high). Drag from left to right and top to bottom to make your selection.
* In the lower left side of your screen you can follow the dimensions as you make your selection.
When you release the mouse button after making your selection, you can drag your selection around to fit it into the exact area you want to copy. Right click inside your selection to copy the area you have selected.
Creating a new document.
Before you create a new document you may want to select the canvas color for your new document. Click on the foreground color on the color panel located on the left side of your screen (toolbar).

Click on the foreground color to bring up the color picker. You can either select the color you want to use from the color palettes, or enter the RGB values for your canvas color in the R, G, B fields.

When you have selected your foreground color, click on the OK button to add it to your tool bar. Now you are ready to create your new document. Create a new document by clicking on the document button in your upper tool menu. Select New document... from the menu to start your own customized frame.

As you can remember we copied a selection of the image which was 640x480 in dimensions, so we will need to create a document which is larger than our copied image. Enter a width of 660 pixels and height of 550 pixels, this will give us a great empty space at the bottom to add any text you may want add.

Click the OK button when you are done, and you will see a new canvas with the color, width and height you selected.
Pasting the image into your document.
When you paste an image into a document you will notice that the paste image will be inserted as a layer until you choose to embed it. This means you can drag the pasted image around on the canvas until you choose to embed it. Right click on the document you have just created to paste the image.

Once you have dragged your pasted image into the area you would like to embed it, click outside of your selection to embed it, or on the selection tool in the upper panel.
In the above illustration you can see how the pasted image was dragged and embedded on the canvas. The frame is basically what we know from the Polaroid cameras.
You could have designed your frame before pasting the image, by applying one or more photo masks to the canvas, but now you know the basics on how to get started.
Have fun! |
