Hi
 I heard there are special programs for icon making... have you ever used such? Are they special in some way???? |

RE Icons
A quick Google bought this page up Icons But I dare say that you can find many more if you check again. There are many companies out there that make icons or will let you download a program for free for you to do it.
If you download the photo package Photofiltre under tools you can export any picture as a icon. (I must try that myself soon!) All the best and I hope that this helps.
