Sid Meier's Pirates, by Atari and Firaxis, is definitely a classic game if you enjoy going back in time and plundering the seas of the Caribbean. The game play reminds me a lot of Sea Dogs and Pirates Of The Caribbean, but that doesn't bring down the ranking of this great game.
You are a young lad in the 16th century who is about to experience the adventure of your life. Being young also means having to work your way up, in order to be respected by the Governor and his daugther. Nearly each Port has got its own Governor, so there is plenty of work to do. Gather a crew a get ready to set sail. Navigate between islands by controlling your ship as it sails across the sea of the Caribbean. The islands are ruled by European nations including the English, Spanish, Dutch and Frence. These contries are at war and you will have to fight and plunder to gain the respect of each Governor. Once at sea you can engage in battle against any ship you meet on your way. Fire the canons or head directly for the enemy vessel and board it. If the Captain does not surrender when you board the ship, you will have to fight the Captain using your sword. If you win the fight you can take over the ship and empty its cargo. You can later sell the ship and its cargo when you reach a habour. If you do not have enough crew members on board your ship to navigate your conquered vessel, you are forced to sink it. The game never gets boring, as there are always quests which you must solve and missions you must complete. Finding your lost sister, finding treasures are just a few of them. You will gain experience for the battles you encounter which will add new features to the game. Definitely a game worth playing. Official website: http://www.atari.com/pirates/pirates/

Yes, I know you enjoy these types of games as much as I
Sid Meier's Pirates is one of the best games I have played for a while. It is not a multiplayer game but that doesn't really matter to me, as it is sometimes great sitting down enjoying a game by yourself. I am not sure if a demo version is available, but if there is it definitely worth downloading and trying out. I normally don't buy that many games as I really don't have that much time to play, but I just had to purchase Sid Meier's Pirates as I am really sucker for these types of games ![]()
