Unhappy It has happened again!

The regular members may remember that back in March I had my camera stolen. It was replaced by the Nikon P80 and that was a very nice camera indeed. It was not an SLR but hey we get what we can afford.

Well that camera has now been stolen as well! I had a break in last week and what did he take? My camera of course. We know who did it and he has been caught and charged but that dis not help get my camera back. So I am hoping that the insurance will pay up so I can replace it again.

Should I move to Canon do you think? I am certainly having no luck with Nikon!

I would go with a Canon and a rottweiler, Steve. Just wrap the camera in something protective before you strap it to the guard dog in case he gets bored and wants something to chew on besides a thief.

Seriously though...what bad luck you've had. I certainly feel for you.

Hi Steve

Sorry to hear about your bad luck. But this could just turn out to be GOOD luck.. Now you have an excuse to buy a CAMERA and not a Nikon. ;-) *LOL*

I'd go with Julianne's idea, if it hadn't been for my old German Sherpherd, missed me one day, the wife and I were out, and when we came back the dog had been on my desk and taken my beloved Canon 350D and chewed it well and truly.. which cost me about £300 to have reapaired.. So as you can understand, Canon doesn't necessarily mean "you're in luck". :-)

So with regards to cameras and their canine teeth, Canon is probably not your best buy either. But if you don't have a German Shepherd, Rottweiler or the likes, I would definately go for Canon, although switching from Nikon to Canon, or vice versa or from any other brand to another, may cause problems as you've already become accustomed with the features in your old camera. Both camera's do pretty much the same job, but buttons, knobs and dialls are situated differently, and may cause som agrrevation upon making the same mistake over and over again.. "coz that bloody button didn't sit there, the last time" or "than stupid dial did something else, and not what it's doing now, before so why can't I get it to do it again?." No matter what you buy, there will, sadly, still be thieves who can't keep the grubby mitt's to themselves, and quite honestly, I don't think the care what brand it is.. as long as the can flog it off for at few quid, so they can get some money for their next fix. or joint.

Of course being a Canon-man myself, I would like to see you with a Canon in your hands, as, when giving you tips and low level support on your camera, I'm more aqquainted with Canon cameras than with Nikon. I've had a Nikon or two in my hands since I bought my camera.. and alway hand it back to the owner, coz I can't figure out which button does what, as it all seems backwards to me. :-)

Whatever you buy, were looking forward to having you back and posting photos and comments like before.

All the best, and come back soon
Steve (Yes I'm "one of those too" :-)

You are really not in luck. I believe that the next time you need to go to the insurance company

Im so sorry to hear that you have had to go through this nightmare again Steve..there is just nothing to say to make this situation better...as for changing brands..i dont think that will help delete the scum and wasters of this world...im glad that "it" was caught and lets hope justice prevails! and third time lucky with the future camera!...whatever it may be.

Default Well I am back again

I have been off for a while without a camera but the insurance claim has been settled and I have my camera back. I decided to go with the Nikon P80 again and hope that this run of lousy luck has ended. I have not managed to get out and about as my wife has been in hospital for the last five months. However she will be out next week and I hope to get out with the camera.
